About Us

The Indy Urban Youth Music Academy (IUYMA) began its journey as an inspirational community choir, weaving together shared passion, original repertoire, and radiant young voices into a sound that transformed audiences. Our founder, Kim Kenny Green, sought to bring together students from all walks of life, showcasing the power of joy and inspiration through music.

As our students' interest in pursuing artistic careers and university-level study grew, so did we. We evolved from a community choir into a comprehensive music academy, offering a diverse range of programs including one-on-one lessons, in-school group music classes for students K-12, community arts initiatives, a summer recording choir experience, and a virtual private lessons studio.

Today, the academy has further expanded to offer more than just music. While music is still our emphasis, we also offer Art, Physical Education, Theatre, Recording Technology and Dance. We are dedicated to serving schools K-12 by providing arts programming as well as specializing in initiatives that equip organizations, schools, and ministries to navigate issues such as: staffing limitations, leadership training, workplace diversity, and professional development.

At IUYMA, our success lies not only in the sense of community we cultivate, but also in how our students feel represented. We empower students to express themselves creatively as individual artists, pursue education credentials to impact future youth, and take ownership in how and what they learn.
